The Famous Kale Chips.

Here they are: the famous kale chips I mentioned last week!

I've been making these 'chips' since 2008.  I am actually surprised that I never posted a recipe for them on the blog before...

If you like salty and crunchy snacks, then you should definitely give these a try.  Yes, they made of a green, leafy vegetable, so no, they won't taste like a potato... but they don't taste like a green either. Hard to describe any way other than tasty. For all you green-veggie haters out there, this may your one way ticket to enjoying greens!

1 bunch of kale
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon sea salt

Wash the kale and pat it dry with paper towel. Massage the kale with the olive oil. Place onto a baking sheet. Sprinkle with sea salt.  Bake at 350F for 7 minutes, stir, then bake for another 7 minutes. The resulting product should be delicate and crispy; if you've ever had seaweed snacks or toasted nori, the texture of kale chips will be similar. You want to dry out the kale, making it crisp, but not burnt!  If the kale is turning dark brown or a deep green (so deep it looks almost black), it is close to burning; prevent the burning by turning down the heat, stir the kale again, or remove the chips from the oven immediately.
